We are happy to report to you about the NDRA Season opener where Jason Whitfield and Rage Performance Came from the underground and made a pretty interesting impact to say the least!

The NDRA event was held on March 18 and 19th – and the weeks prior to that – the Whitfield Racing team was thrashing as they prepared the “New” car for the trip, not to mention 2 customer’s cars they planned to run since they were going.

When Jason Whitfield brought out his “New” car that hardly anyone knew about – people were pretty blown away. Out of trailer came this insane Chevy Cobalt that Jason is going to campaign this year. “I just want to go fast, and I want to do it on a consistent basis. We have all seen how these GM racecars have performed and proven themselves on the track. I just wanted a piece of it. I wanted to venture out into something that was different for me. I also wanted to do something with the Cobalt that I don’t think has been done before. I didn’t want to just build another racecar. I wanted to build a street car that I can take out on the street or to any shows I want to, and oh by the way lay down some insane HP numbers on my Dyno, and be one of the fastest street cars ever” – said Jason.
The Chevy Cobalt is still about 6 weeks away from testing and 8 to10 weeks from total completion. Something was just right about making the trip to Arizona. The Whitfield Racing team just wanted to come out and play. They wanted to let the world know what they were up to, and did this in a big way. The team made it to the track at 11pm on Friday night just in time to set up the trailer next to the rest of the GM teams. Then left to get some well deserved rest at a near by hotel.

Saturday morning, the Honda Civic Pro All Motor car qualified # 1 and after all was said and done ended up in the #2 place by nightfall.

Jason and the team had a lot of time in the pit area, where they talked with enthusiasts about the Cobalt and the teams plans for this and next year.
Sunday morning and deep into the afternoon brought big rainfall. Then about 2pm the team was told we would get our first run at 3pm. They unloaded and set up the cars again and went to work.

At the end of the day on Sunday, the Honda Civic took 3rd place in the All Motor Pro class only losing to the 2 fastest Pro Teams out.
